John Washington's World: A Walking Tour
November 6, 2021 @ 2:00PM — 5:00PM Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Join celebrated Historian John Hennessy for a walking tour of Downtown Fredericksburg that chronicles the life of John Washington, an enslaved person in Fredericksburg who escaped to freedom during the Civil War.
Participants will gather in Historic Market Square at 2pm on November 6th. After a walking tour of Fredericksburg's Historic District, participants will drive to Old Mill Park for the final leg of the tour, highlighting John Washington's escape to freedom across the Rappahannock River.
All proceeds benefit our initiatives to develop a new exhibit that tells the African American story in Fredericksburg.
Only 25 spots are available for this tour!
